Stephen Cluney has a background that combines a full spectrum of external coaching and consulting experiences. He is widely recognized as one of the
major forces in starting and evolving the coaching profession as it exists today. Over the years, he has also started and managed several diverse
businesses.
Stephen's start in the coaching industry came in 1989, when he began his coaching practice. In 1992, he joined forces with Thomas Leonard to develop and launch Coach University, currently the largest and most highly recognized coaching school in the world. Following a collaborative effort with other coaches on the development of the University's curriculum, Stephen ran weekly tele-training classes, coached, taught, and trained hundreds of students in all aspects of coaching.
In 1995, Stephen, along with a small group of coaches, launched the ICF (International Coaching Federation), a non-for-profit organization designed to serve the needs of the existing and blossoming coaching community. Stephen was instrumental in the development of the standards of practice for the profession, as well as, the parameters for the application process and testing of coaches to become certified as professional or master coaches. The ICF now has 171 chapters in 33 countries.
In working with his clients, Stephen is able to leverage his extensive experience in the coaching industry, but what truly sets him apart is his real world business experience, having led as well as worked within a number of businesses.
Today, Stephen specializes in working with CEOs and executives in a variety of areas including leadership, staff excellence, team development and personal/business balance. Through a blended coaching and consulting approach, business leaders are able to better define and clarify their business strategies, strengthen their leadership capabilities and increase people performance with a direct and measured impact on their business. |
