Statement: |
Coaching is a body of knowledge that focuses on the development of human potential. Corporate coaching - generallyan intensive, short-term process - addresses behaviors and issues that are impeding team/employee effectiveness. Corporate managers who seek coaching for their company or employees rightfully expect a positive return on their investment.
Managers can measure the impact on their employees’ performance through increased productivity, a more positive work place, andthe enhanced ability of employees to respond successfully to change.Corporate coaching is for managers who want better results than they have been able to achieve on their own.
Coaching can assist managers in clarifying their priorities, after which they can move to planning and organizing their own and staffe fforts around those priorities. Coaching sessions can be conducted without having to leave the office, without losing time from work, by phone or face-to-face contacts. |

Work Experience:
Butterworth Hospital/Spectrum Health
Medical Social Work Director (4/72 - 3/00)
I spent 28 years as the Medical Social Work Director within a diversified health care system. I was responsible for a staff of 85 across two campuses. In that role, I acted as administrator, mentor, coach, educator and career counselor - both with my staff and with the administration at large within the organization - on developing effective managerial, leadership and communication/conflict resolution skills, establishing and maintaining effective interpersonal relationships, personal and career development/transitioning, goal setting and implementation, regaining and maintaining life balance and various other management issues.
We completed a merger three years before I left the organization, and when that occurred, each administrator and staff person necessarily assumed additional and more diverse responsibilities. My coaching style enabled me to effectively lead staff through the many adjustments that were part of that successful transition.
Consulting Experience:
Gerber Memorial Hospital, Fremont, MI (5/82-9/90)
and
Holland Hospital in Holland, MI (6/77-10/80)
I provided consulting services to affiliate social work departments on discharge planning, liability issues, policy and procedures, and quality improvement - ensuring optimum customer service and industry ac creditation/certification standards were met.
Coaching Experience:
Trillium Consultants LLC
CEO/President, Coach and Counselor) (12/99 - present) |

| "I contacted Karen at a time in my life when I 'stood in the midst of a town square ready to make a choice.' Which way to go? In which part of the village would I find the people and experiences that I needed to continue to grow, thrive, and give? I found her sitting by the fountain. She was mature, wise, kind and spiritual. We talked a while. I made my choice. I am comforted knowing that she is still there.

| "Karen's outlook on life is unfailingly positive... she has the ability to reframe anything and help you to see how any experience can be a growth experience. She is very intuitive, able to cut to the heart of the matter in minutes. Even though she sees the 'big picture' quickly, she never 'shoves it down your throat.' She helps you find your own truth in your own way and time - the essence of a great coach!" |

| "I could not be happier with my experiences with Trillium Consultants! After reading in the Advance (newspaper, Life Coach column) several of Karen's responses to people trying to resolve problems, I got the sense that coaching is different. I thought about the issues my husband and I were having, trying to balance our marriage with his work life and as a young mother finding the direction my own life needed. Indeed, after several coaching sessions, we have been able to resolve long standing issues in a practical way. My coaching relationship has provided the needed boost to get beyond the things that were holding me back. To me, coaching is a great way to define an area of one's life that needs direction, determine the direction to go in, and then get there!" |
