Statement: |
Running a successful business is about getting results, and about having a life while doing it. That's my definition of success. There are only 4 things every business must do well to succeed. But it's important that the business do those 4 things to the appropriate degree and at the right time based on the stage of growth, the market and other factors.
This takes a combination of art and science. In this way, business is similar to architecture. You can't violate the science or the building will fall down, but it takes art to make the building beautiful, one you want to inhabit, and one that supports, rather than inhibits the results you want. I help my clients understand this balance and apply it in their work.
Each person is a unique blend of strengths, weaknesses, goal sand desires. It is easier to play to your strengths, and unleash your passions and desires than it is to fix your weaknesses and strive for goals that have been thrust upon you. By dealing with the "art" of running a business we fit a person's strengths, passions and desires into a company's success without violating the "science"of running the company. This usually makes for happier, more productive people and a better bottom line. |
