Nowthat I’m "in retirement," I’m able to reflect upon whatI’ve accomplished thus far in my life. I’m able to see that I’veexperienced and learned a great deal. Then I’ve asked the question:"What’s next?" You see, until now I’ve lived under theassumption that upon retirement I’d be able to play golf and travel.Well, I’ve done that. So. . ., "What’s next?" I’ve discovered that as an earlymember of the baby-boomer generation, I’m able to look forwardto living longer because of good health insurance coverage andadequate income due to the work I’ve done over the past 30+ years. That then becomes the problem or the opportunity: "What’snext?" (along with many other questions). And that’s wherelife-coaching comes in. By pursuinga new career in life-coaching, I’m able to "begin again."By building on my life experience, I’m able to recognize thatevery time I’ve started a new job, I’ve had to re-create me bytaking courses, developing new skills and new attitudes and perspectives.I’ve discovered that I am a co-creator of my life. I’ve foundalso that I derive my greatest pleasure when I’m working withothers toward their fulfillment. I’ve found that there is alwaysmore to be learned and experienced. All I have to do is keep askingquestions. |
