The Initial Steps by Fertility Journey
Fortunately for many couples experiencing infertility, the testing process is relatively straightforward. However, if your healthcare provider can not determine the cause of the problem from the first round of tests he/she will have to perform additional tests until a diagnosis is made. These subsequent tests are different for women and men and will likely require additional visits.
The initial tests might vary slightly from person to person, but these three fundamental components are always addressed:
- Documentation of ovulation
- Evaluation of sperm
- Documentation of reproductive anatomy
– can the egg meet the sperm and fertilize?
Knowing what to expect in the first consultation may make this experience a little easier. This section outlines the typical tests you and your partner will have during infertility evaluation. There is also information about testing options you can do at home.
